Crime

We’ve actually had a rash of attempted break-ins in our neighborhood – scary stuff. So now, in the middle of winter, we’re keeping our windows closed. And the doors locked.

Not to bum you out (or scare my parents – who were nice enough to subscribe – thanks Mom and Dad!)

But the fun stuff is still in the police blotter – and in one freestanding article in the recent local paper. A few goodies:

-a resident reported that $27 in cash from his wallet was missing, after it was left unattended at the train station. Hey – the guy was lucky his wallet was still there when he went back!

-a resident in the next town went to police headquarters to report that he had been fired. And when he went back to the office to say goodbye to his colleagues, his supervisor grabbed him by the art and asked him to leave. This is news?????

-a local garbage hauler was arrested after videos showed him dumping garbage from two clients, into another hauler’s bin. He was charged with a waste violation, and with a 4th degree crime (I didn’t know there were four degrees of crime) – for stealing services. The guy admitted he did it. The local paper called for a comment, but mistakenly called the hauler’s brother. Like a good brother, he was “shocked’ to hear the news. The brother said “his character is excellent. It’s not like him to do something like that. I’m not just saying that because he’s my borther – he’s a good guy.”
