Here’s your change, damn it

Now that we have our EZ Pass, we don’t have to go through the manned toll lanes. Not only are those lines long (and you sometimes have to have correct change), but the toll takers there are getting a reputation for rudeness.

This Star-Ledger article shows just HOW rude they can be. One toll taker threatened to strip-search a driver who entered the wrong lane. Another, who didn’t want to make change for a $1.75 toll threw the change at the driver and told the person to “get on the road and die.”

More than 550 complaints were filed by New Jersey drivers during 2008 and 2009.

Of course it’s not just the toll takers who are rude. Sometimes it’s the drivers. Like drivers spitting on the money before giving it to the toll taker.

Kind of makes me miss toll-free California roads.

  1. Except for the bridges…and the traffic on the 405 when we went to SoCal. Grass is greener
