Random New Jersey things

Dunkin Donuts: You can order donuts in the shapes of numbers, though you have to do that in advance. Good to know for school birthday treats.

AAA: Apparently they’re not allowed to tow you from many (all?) areas of the Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. If you’re going to break down and you have AAA, do it on a regular street, or on an exit ramp. Otherwise, you might have to pay the towing company allowed by the state.

Young Drivers: the new Kyleigh’s Law goes into effect in the Garden State. Drivers under the age of 21 will have to put on a velcro sticker on their license plates when driving. This is to alert cops to look out for the young drivers who might be breaking laws aimed at them (like carrying too many passengers, driving between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.). Kids here can’t get their driver’s license until age 17. And the auto insurance rates here are incredibly high. We’re paying more, for less coverage, than we had in California.
