Halloween after Hurricane Sandy

Trick or treating was cancelled in our town indefinitely, and postponed by Governor Christie until Monday, November 5. But it’s still Halloween, and 9 year old boys want to celebrate. So on his lead, we made a Halloween cake with some girls who came to hang out for a few hours while their parents shopped for generator gas and groceries.

Making Halloween cake with friends’ kids. Those chocolates in the corner are tombstones.

And Dori wanted to make a special Halloween for her brother. She created an indoor trick or treating course for Zack, complete with fake houses to visit and “wonders” at some sites (little trinkets like beads). And bonus – we got to trick or treat at night – after dinner! You see, in most parts of New Jersey, trick or treating is in day light. Ugh. Last year we trick or treated with branches down and no power, so this year is a weird case of deja vous.

yes, Dad (from the Washington Nationals) is trick-or-treating too.

88 Lazy Lane had no candy.

Zack was in for a surprise at Charlie Brown Ave.

Mark called the greeter “rummage sale girl.”

The adults got candy. The Cubs player got a rock – just like Charlie Brown.

The Haunted Mansion was unlike the one at Disneyland.

And after, we stuffed our faces with candy while watching Survivor.
